This post will focus on the group’s developing design work based on the marketing groups Integrated Marketing Campaign (IMC) for eDecks.
As discussed in Post 1 our graphic design group carried out research and worked together to create a list of possible ideas for the eDecks brief. However, during the meetings with each of our marketing groups they had their own plans.
Group One
Group one’s plan was to make use of an AI garden designer that would make garden plans using eDecks products and show users how their garden would look all year round. Their main objective was to promote this through the eDecks website and create a 30 second ad video for social media that targets 18–34-year-old first time buyers and DIYers.
Group Two
Group two struggled to bring their ideas together in time for us to create any visuals for them. They sent us their concept late and did not give us guidance on what they would like to be created. We reached out multiple times but there was no further communication from them.

Design Development
To ensure the designs met the groups needs we planned multiple meetings to discuss possible ideas. We came to the meetings with a list of questions, and I made notes to ensure we had all the relevant information.
In the first meeting, group one already had their AI garden planner bot idea. I had discussed the possibility that this didn’t meet the criteria of improving winter sales due to the target audience being in the UK, and UK homeowners don’t often use their gardens in winter so won’t spend money on them during winter. However, they were happy with their idea meaning we were required to create designs that promoted this.
I presented the group with previous designs I had created for the Advanced Web Design project to give them an insight into the types of social media videos we could create within the time frame. They liked these ideas nevertheless they had their minds set on the below storyboard they had created:

During the meeting I mentioned the ‘how to’ flyers to be included in products, leading to the eDecks website and showed them the below (rough) sketch as an example of the idea. They were happy with this idea and wanted to include it as part of their IMC.

To ensure there was enough design work for each of our team I also suggested to the group about creating a web banner on a wireframe for eDecks website to promote the AI garden planner. I again showed them a previous example created for the Art Direction: Web Technologies project and the group decided this would be the right way to promote the AI planner through the eDecks website.
